Through this free groove construction lesson you will learn a new snare placement for simeple time grooves in 9/8. This is going to involve switching from the common time 2 and 4 to the half time 3 placement, creating a whole new feel. Similar movements will have been covered in earlier lessons in 4/4 but in this time signature there is that extra eighth note at the end, be aware of this and don't left it throw off your timing. Several examples of this movement are shown below, use these parts as a basis for building your own grooves. - Apply these grooves to a phrased piece as either the 'A' or 'B' section. .
