This lesson will follow the structure discussed in the 'A A A B' lesson only this time the 'B' section will be in 3/4. The aim here is to further improve your ability to move through different time signatures and to provide more ideas for fills in 3/4.
The structure for this exercise will look like this:
Written below are five examples of parts you could play for this structured pattern. In all examples the 'B' is a Fill In 3/4. A note on how the 'B' section has been constructed is included.
Example 1
A simple roll around the kit in gruops of four.
Example 2
Using snares and crashes on all numbered counts.
Example 3
Playing a shorter roll around the kit in groups of two.
Example 4
Using a 16th note grouping with crashes and toms.
Example 5
Using eighth note triplets.
TASK
- Using the 2 minute rule, get all phrases up to a tempo of at least 120bpm.
- Create your own versions of these patterns.
