In this concept you will be constructing grooves that will have a similar sound to those in our Offbeat 8th Note Open Hi Hats concept. This time you will be playing constant eighth notes in the bar and using accents on all '+' counts. This is also similar to our Accenting Crotchets only the accents have been moved a long one eighth note.
The right hand for this groove concept looks like this:
To achieve this sound play the first note softly, with a low stick height followed by a loud stroke with a high stick height. Throughout the bar the right hand will be making a low heigh type motion.
Listed below are several examples of this concept with groove applied. It works best on closed hi hats and the ride as the accents can be made much clearer on these voices. Offbeat 16th notes have been used so be careful of timing and accent placement in those grooves.
