In this free rudiment lesson you will learn another set of simple accent patterns and placements in a flam tap. These will all fall on standard left hand strokes and when played in standard sticking, will all be played on an 'e' or an 'a' count. Left hand (or following hand) accents are traditionally a little trickier to play as they are usually the weeker hand. You will really need to focus on this hand and make sure that the accents are both loud enough and that your timing is accurate. Another level of difficulty is added to this with the addition of grace notes, these make a very stamina draining exercise.
At the bottom of the page you will find a collection of links to lessons that will be helpful when learning these parts, this includes more straight forward versions of the flam tap and other rudiments with similar accent placements. To make sure you are playing the rhythm and accents accurately, start each patttern slowly and gradually build up tempo as you get more comfortable with the movements involved.
