In this 9/8 fill construction lesson you will learn another linear pattern but this time based on syncopated groupings of four that will fall our of line with the 9/8 compound pulse. The momevement used in most cases will be the RLRF which there have been many exercises on. At the bottom of the page you will find links to these and many other lessons you may find helpful. The basis of this pattern is going to be four sixteenth notes repeated four times followed by a group of two to fill up the bar.
Listed below are several ideas using this concept in various different ways. In the first example I have orchestrated a basic version of the fill on the snare and have included phrase markings to clarify the groupings.
