Swiss Army Triplet With Each Hand On A Different Drum

In this swiss army triplet orchestration concept each hand will just play a different drum as you have probably done with many other rudiments by now. For example, in the first exercise the right hand plays the floor tom and the left hand plays the high tom. This is a great pattern for giving the rudiment a melodic feel, particularly with more complex stickings like this. These exercises will be very similar to other rudiments orchestrated this way, you can find some of these linked at the bottom of the page.

Remember, you hands will always be playing a swiss army triplet in all exercises on this page. In the later exercises the orchestration switches at various points in the bar. I have included feet in all exercises, it may be worth removing them whilst you are learning the orchestration then adding them back in later. Experiment with using different feet patterns from our previous lessons.

These patterns can get quite full on so don't be afraid to slow the part right down. Note accuracy is always far more important that speed.
