In this lesson you will be learning some very simple accent placements for the single stroke triplet. In all of the exercises presented on this page you will only be accenting on right hands. In the first and third block these will be on the first and third stroke and in the second and fourth block it will be on the second stroke. Remember when accenting to make the note with the '>' symbol above it louder than the rest. You can achieve this by lifting your stick slightly higher than normal and pushing down with it a little more.
Various different combinations of this movement have been given below. Remember to use the single stroke sticking throughout and start out slow while you get comfortable with the movements.
- Using the 2 Minute Rule, get all exercises up to a tempo of 140bpm.
- Experiemnt with further combinations of quarter note accents.
- Experiment with various different feet patterns in all exercises.
