Listed below are various examples of adding feet to the triple paradiddle. In this lesson you will focus on using simple quarter note parts to get you comfortable with the co ordination and independence between hands and feet. In the examples below both standard and reversed sticking have been shown, it is important to learn both versions of these exercises. All feet patterns on this page should look familiar as they have been applied under different rudiments in previous lessons.
Use a metronome wherever possible and remember to start slow and build the tempo up as you get more comfortable with the placement of notes.
- Using the 2 minute rule, get all exercises up to a tempo of at least 120bpm with good hand technique.
- Use both standard and reverse sticking with each exercise.
- Create your own feet patterns for the exercises.
- Play all 6 exercises as a continuous 6 bar pattern, then repeat.
