In this flam accent orchestration lesson the rudiment will be moved around the kit in a six note block that is split up into a sub grouping of four then two. This creates a slightly syncopated pattern as the groupings don't follow the three note pattern you'd expect in eighth note triplets. This pattern can get quite difficult as not only are you playing groups of four within a rhythm based on threes, there are also grace notes on every quarter note. Remember, you hands will always be playing a flam accent in all exercises. I have included feet in all exercises, it may be worth removing them whilst you are learning the orchestration then adding them back in later. Experiment with using different feet patterns from our previous lessons. Don't be afraid to slow these exercises right down.
