'5 6 1' Crash Placement In 6/8

In this lesson you will learn a new crash placement idea in the time signature of 6/8 that makes a subtle but effective fill. Similar ideas have been covered in previous lessons and I have linked these at the bottom of the page. In this version the crashes will fall on the '5' and '6' counts of the bar containing the fill and will then have a third crash on beat '1' of the following bar.

As with similar ideas applied in other time signatures, you will have three eighth note crashes in a row which is quite a simple fill that allows these beats to be subtly accented creating a 'leading in' effect. The exercises below show this idea applied across various forms of 6/8 groove. As discussed in the previous lesson, it doesn't matter which part of the kit the right hand is riding on as the concept will always fit. Which crashes you use and what order you use them in also isn't set in stone, use the sound you like the most.

All examples will represent the end of a phrase. So the first bar in each example would actually be the last bar in the phrase and the second bar would be the start of the next block.
