'F L R L' Exercise

This exercise is another group of four notes where the last hand is replaced with a bass drum and is a great exercise in developing your right foot accuracy and in later lessons you will be applying this as a fill concept. There isn't a lot to the exercise and on this page you will just be learning it as eighth notes and sixteenth notes. Spend a lot of time making sure the kick is falling exactly in place then work on pushing the tempo. Our Hand/Foot Independance Exercise will be incredibly useful for sorting out the foot placement here.

The exercise is very similar to the R L R F and R F R L exercises covered previously.

In both exercises both standard and reverse sticking have been noted, practicing both will be very beneficial. The two versions of the exercise are essentially the same, they just fit to the metronome in different ways due to the notation.
