In this lesson you will be applying the ideas learned in the previous lessons to three quarter bar fills. To acheive this, just start the fill on the '+' count after beat 1. Some examples of this are given below.
Exercise 1
A straight snare version to show how the parts fit together.
Exercise 2
Orchestrated as a straight roll around the kit with four on each drum, starting a quaver early.
Exercise 3
Staggering the groups of four.
Exercise 4
An orchestration making use of eighth notes and flams.
Exercise 5
This orchestration makes use of groups of two.
TASK:
- Using the 2 minute rule, learn all fills up to a tempo of at least 120bpm.
- Apply the fills to a Structured Pattern.
