Ideas for moving around the kit the wrong way.
The fills in this lesson move around the kit the 'wrong way'. Some of the patterns can will involve crossing your hands if played with a single stroke roll which should be avoided where ever possible, so alternate sticking has been given in some examples. The alternate sticking will involve throwing in a double, because of this you will end up playing a roll in reversed single stroke roll sticking. It might be worth going back to the Single Stroke Roll and spending some time working on the reverse version of it which are shown half way down the page.
- Using the 2 minute rule, get all example fills up to a tempo of at least 130bpm.
- Create your own versions of these fills.
- Include these fills in an 8 bar pattern.
