Standard Triplet With Quarter Note Accents

In this lesson you will be learning some very simple Accent placements for the Standard Triplet. In all of the exercises presented on this page you will only be accenting on the numbered counts, which will fall on the leading hand, making them pretty straight forward. Remember when accenting to make the note with the '>' symbol above it louder than the rest. You can achieve this by lifting your stick slightly higher than normal and pushing down with it a little more.

Various different combinations of quarter note accent have been given below and feet have been included with all exercises. If the feet are throwing you off feel free to remove them until you are comfortable with the hand part. Remember to use the standard triplet 'R L L' sticking throughout.
