Flam Tap With Right Hand Accents || Free Rudiment Lesson

In this free rudiment lesson you will learn another set of simple accent patterns and placements around a sixteenth note flam tap sticking. These will all fall on standard right hand strokes and, when played in standard sticking, will all be played on a numbered or an '+' count. Right hand (or leading hand) accents are traditionally a little easier to play as they are usually the stronger hand. Focus in these exercises should be the different levels of dynamics and making sure that all strokes are played at the appropriate volume whilst havingaccurate timing and technique. Another level of difficulty is added to this with the addition of grace notes, these create an exercise that is quite draining on hand stmaina.

At the bottom of the page you will find a collection of links to lessons that will be helpful when learning these parts, this includes more straight forward versions of the flam tap and other rudiments with similar accent placements. To make sure you are playing the rhythm and accents accurately, start each patttern slowly and gradually build up tempo as you get more comfortable with the movements involved. Don't be afraid to switch the rhythm to quaver or even crotchets.
