In this lesson you will be learning some four bar phrases that switch between 5/8 and 3/4. The aim of these exercises is to get you comfortable with changing both the time signature and the 'feel' part way through a piece. The switch from compound to simple time can be a bit tricky so don't be afraid to slow the extracts right down. A good tip is to latch onto the eighth note count as this will remain consistent in timing through both time signatures. These exercises are very useful generally as both of these changes are common across all styles of music.
