Double Time Grooves In Swing Time

In this lesson you will be revisiting double time grooves, this time with a swing time feel. As with most double time parts, these grooves won't be too challenging until you hit the higher tempos but it would be beneficial to read the previous lesson linked at the bottom of the page. This includes links to many lessons in swing time which will be useful if you aren't familiar with this timing.

Listed below are several examples of double time grooves using this new timing. When learning the parts start out slow and gradually increase the tempo. It is very important to keep your right hand relaxed, particularly when you start getting quicker. If you tense up you will be restricting the movement in your arm, making the part sound 'clunky' and stiff.
