Fake Double Kick Groove In 3/4

In this groove construction lesson you will be taking the Fake Double Kick movement learned previously and applying it to the time signature of 3/4. Previous lessons have focused on the co-ordination elements of the part so it is fairly essential to cover these first and you can find links at the bottom of this page. In this lesson I will just be presenting a collection of grooves using the concept, a note on how the groove has been built is included with each pattern. Remember, the part is played open handed.

Example 1

This groove uses eighth note hi hats and the snare is played with the right hand. The snares are applied in a waltz style movement.

Eighth note hi hats, snare with the right.

Example 2

This groove uses eighth note hi hats and the snare is played with the left hand.

Eighth note hi hats, snare with the left.

Example 3

This groove uses quarter note hi hats and the snare is played with the right hand.

Quarter note hi hats, snare with the right.

Example 4

This groove uses quarter note hi hats and the snare is played with the left hand.

Quarter note hi hats, snare with the left.
