Half Time Grooves In 12/8

In this lesson you will be applying the concept of half time within the time signature of 12/8. This idea has been applied in other time signatures and you can find a collection of links to these as well as other useful lessons at the bottom of the page. To create a half time feel in 4/4 the number of snares was reduced from two to one and this was placed in the middle of the bar on count 3. You will essentially be doing the same thing here and most of these parts will have a very similar sound to those in 4/4.

Listed below are six examples of this groove idea. As usual, use these as a starting point to create your own half time 12/8 grooves.
