'6 1' Crash Placement In 6/8

In this lesson I will be presenting a very similar idea to our 3/4 and 4/4 lessons on the same concept which you can find linked at the bottom of the page. This time you will apply the idea over the time signature of 6/8 so very little actually change in terms of the basic idea. If you are familiar with this time signature then this is a nice simple idea that will very quickly give you some cool sounding parts. You can find more fill construction lessons in 6/8 at the bottom of the page.

As with the 3/4 and 4/4 versions, you will have two eighth note crashes in a row which is quite a simple fill that allows these two beats to be subtly accented creating a 'leading in' effect. The exercises below show this idea applied across various forms of 6/8 groove. As discussed in the previous lesson, it doesn't matter which part of the kit the right hand is riding on as the concept will always fit. Which crashes you use and what order you use them in also isn't set in stone, use the sound you like the most.

All examples will represent the end of a phrase. So the first bar in each example would actually be the last bar in the phrase and the second bar would be the start of the next block.
