The Single Stroke 4 With Eighth Note Feet

This lessons follows on from our Single Stroke 4 With Quarter Note Feet lesson. It will be much easier to follow if you are familiar with the content from that lesson. The feet patterns used in this lesson will be similar to those used in other rudiments.

All exercises in this lesson will involve playing an eighth note foot pattern underneath both rhythmic versions of the single stroke 4. The parts are just a development of the lesson linked baove where additional eighth notes are added in Practice all exercises with both standard, reversed and alternate sticking.

TASKS

  1. Using the 2 minute rule, get the exercises up to a tempo of at least 135bpm with good hand technique.
  2. Use all three sticking patterns with each exercise.
  3. Create your own feet patterns for the exercises.
  4. Play all 6 exercises as a continuous 6 bar pattern, then repeat.
