In this lesson you will be expanding on the 16 Beat Groove learned in level 1 by adding additional snares on the 'offbeat'. Offbeat snares were discussed in a more standard groove in a previous lesson but are essentially the idea of adding decorative snares on 'e' and 'a' counts. This idea is actually quite simple in this kind of groove, all you need to do is move a left hand from the hi hat to a snare. A little work may be needed on the co ordination of some patterns but hopefully you will fly through this lesson.
In each example you will be shown a hand part followed by two example of the same part with bass drums applied. Remember that at all times the hands follow a single stroke roll sticking. This means all numbered and '+' counts will be played with a right hand whilst all 'a' and 'e' counts will be a left hand. I have just used quarter or eighth note bass drums to keep things relatively simple.
Example 1
An extra snare has been added on the 'a' count after beat 2, this is a very common placement.

Example 2
One additional snare has been put on the 'e' after beat 2.

Example 4
Again, two additional snares have been added. This time on the 'e' after beat 1 and the 'a' after beat 4. When this groove is repeated it will have a similar sound to example 3.

Example 5
All placements from the above examples have been combined in this example.
