Foot Speed Exercises Using Sixteenth Note Hands

In this lesson we will be exploring the idea presented in the task of our Foot Speed Exercises Using Eighth Notes lesson. You told to try the same exercises given but using sixteenth notes on the hands rather than eighths. Obviously with this your feet aren't going to be doing anything different but it does give you the opportunity to develop your hands a little while working on your feet.

In this lesson each exercise is now a sixteenth note roll on the hands with some eighth note groupings on the feet. I have extended the exercises to two bar patterns to allow more variety in the parts. You can go back and apply the kick patterns from the previous lesson also. Again, no sticking marks have been given to encourage you to try the exercise with different rudiments.

Remember to use the Two Minute Rule to help in the development of speed.

TASK

  1. Use the 2 minute rule to get all exercises up to a tempo of at least 125bpm.
  2. Use the sticking from various different rudiments in these exercises.
  3. Create your own exercises based on these patterns.
