Foot Speed Exercise Using Eighth Notes

In this lesson you will be building up the speed of your right foot using patterns of eighth notes on the snare with various groupings of eighth notes on the feet. These exercises are just variations on our Adding Feet Under A Single Stroke Roll exercises but you will just be using the right foot and focusing on building up the speed of this.

Each exercise is an eighth note roll on the snare with a different rhythm for the kick drum. I have deliberately left sticking marks out as you should experiment with different rudiments for the hands. Start with a single stroke roll to get comfortable with the foot pattern then switch to doubles or paradiddles.

The Two Minute Rule is incredibly useful in exercises like this. Following this practice tip you will quickly notice the speed you can play these exercises at increasing.
