A A A B Exercises Using Eighth Note Fills

Four bar phrases using an A A A B structure to help develop your ability to switch from groove to eighth note fills.

The intention with the patterns in this lesson is to help improve your ability to switch between grooves and fills. The exercises are similar to our A B Exercises Using Eighth Note Fills only we have added in two more 'A' bars. The structure of all exercises here will be A A A B structure where A will be a bar of groove and B will be a bar containing some kind of fill built from eighth note rolls.

As before, the important thing here is to repeat the four bar phrases over and over, preferably with a metronome, until you can play the part several times without any breaks in timing. I have provided various lengths of fill to mix things up.
