The Inverted Paradiddle With Each Hand On A Different Drum

This lessons follows on from our Inverted Paradiddle Sticking lesson. It will be much easier to follow if you are familiar with the content from that lesson. It is also follows the same concept as our lessons using the Single Stroke Roll, Double Stroke Roll and Paradiddle.

As discussed in similar lessons, this orchestration idea is a really good way of learning the sticking for the rudiment. Remember that the idea is that the right hand will play one voice, such as the floor tom, while the left plays another. This gives the rudiment more of a 'melody' which can make it much easier to learn. It is also a good introduction to moving the rudiment around different parts of the kit, which builds you up to fill construction ideas.

Remember, you hands will always be playing an inverted paradiddle in all exercises on this page. In the later exercises the orchestration switches at various points in the bar. I have included feet in all exercises, it may be worth removing them whilst you are learning the orchestration then adding them back in later. Experiment with using different feet patterns from our previous lessons.
