This is a groove where the standard right hand part is replaced with a 16th note single stroke roll on the hi hat played with both hands. Snare and bass drums are then added around this rhythmic base.
For this concept you will be changing the note value of the right hand to sixteenth notes. This has been briefly covered in this Practical Single Stroke Roll lesson but only a couple of kick variations were given. Look over this lesson to familiarize yourself with how the hands work then have a go at some of the variations listed below.
The first three examples are in standard time and the last three are in Half Time.
