The Double Stroke Roll In Groups Of Eight

This lessons follows on from our Double Stroke Roll With Each Hand On A Different Drum lesson. It will be much easier to follow if you are familiar with the content from that lesson.

Continuing with ideas for orchestrating a double stroke roll, in this lesson you will be taking the basic rudiment as sixteenth notes and splitting it into groups of eight. Each of these groups of eight will then be played on a different drum. These exercises will be pretty straight forward as you will only be using two different parts of the kit. The intention here is to get your comfortable with moving around the kit in 'blocks' of a set number whilst playing doubles and you will be expanding on this in later lessons. These patterns will work well as fills without any adjustment, but would be more suited to a single stroke sticking.

Feet have been included all exercises.
