The Standard Paradiddle In A Triangle Pattern

This Paradiddle orchestration lesson will follow an almost completely different idea to those covered previously. So far everything has been based around the idea of moving in set 'blocks' then varying the lengths of those blocks. This time you will be moving in a 'shape' that in my head makes a triangle. This will involve playing one beat each over two drums followed by two notes on a third drum. This will hopefully start to make sense when you play the patterns. A similar movement has been covered for the single stroke roll and this is linked at the bottom of the page.

As always, feet have been included in all exercises but experiment with different patterns to those shown If you are finding an exercise difficult it would be worth removing the feet until you are comfortable with the hands. In the last two exercises on the page a block of four is put before or after the 'triangle' pattern.
