Double Stroke Triplet In Blocks Of Four

This lessons follows on from our Double Stroke Triplet Moving In Blocks Of 2 lesson, it will be much easier to follow if you are familiar with the content from that lesson.

As with all rudiment exercises, orchestrating is an important step. In the exercises presented on this page you will learn six orchestrations for the double stroke triplet that all involve moving in groups of four. This means that on every fourth count you change voicing, in exactly the same way you did with this Double Stroke Roll Orchestration. The big difference here though is that you are now playing in a triplet timing, so the changing of voice won't line up with the beat.

Feet have been included in all exercises but only as quarter notes. For this orchestration concept it is acceptable to use the same drum twice within a bar as long as two groups aren't played on the same drum in a row. Remember to use the double stroke triplet sticking through each exercise.
