'A B A C' Patterns In Double Time

This lesson expands on our previous level 1 phrases involving the addition of a C section to 4/4 Patterns and here you will be learning patterns played in Double Time. The structure for the exercises on this page will be the same as the lesson linked above so it would be useful to have a quick look over at least the top image.

As with the previous lesson, both the B and C parts are going to be fills, but you are going to approach the two different fills in different ways. The 'B' is now going to be a subtle fill which can either be just a variation on the groove or a Short Fill. The 'A' will be a groove as usual.

TASK

  1. Using the 2 minute rule, get all phrases up to a tempo of at least 120bpm.
  2. Create your own versions of these patterns.
