'A B B' Structure

A simple variation on the three bar 'AAB' pattern learned earlier in this section, similar to the level 1 'AABB' patterns.

In this lesson you will be learning a variation on the three bar AAB pattern learned previously at this level. To construct this new version you will take a similar approach to the level 2 AABB style patterns but you with one of the 'A' sections removed. So as with the AABB pattern, you will have a two bar fill ending the phrase. This is similar to the ABC version but there is no lead into the fill.

The structure for these patterns is this:

A three bar phrase made up of two different parts.

This structure could be used in similar circumstances discussed in the previous three bar phrase lesson linked above. Listed below are several example of this structure with a drum kit part applied. I have used a variety of different construction ideas but feel free to create your own parts. All patterns on this page are in the time signature of 4/4, separate lessons will be given for different time signatures.
