Offbeat Snares As Standard Triplets

In this lesson you will be learning another Offbeat Snare movement that replaces the standard 16th note with a 16th note triplet played in the Standard Triplet sticking. In these patterns the 'R' of the standard triplet will be played on a hi hat (or alternative) and the 'L's on the snare either as standard notes or ghost notes. Before starting the groove constuction process try these orchestrated standard triplet patterns to get used to the movements:

All you will be doing when creating grooves from this idea is throwing in one set of the standard triplet at various points in the bar. If you can play the orchestrations above this should be relatively straight forward. Below I have provided a large quantity of one bar grooves where this idea has been used in various different ways. Once you are comfortable with the concept create your own versions of these grooves.

It's worth noting that when notated, the standard triplet will be split between two voices. This means the right hand will generally be in voice 1 and the lefts in voice 2.
