The Single Stroke Triplet With Quarter Note Feet

This lessons follows on from our Single Stroke Triplet Sticking lesson. It will be much easier to follow if you are familiar with the content from that lesson.

The next step with this rudiment will be to add feet. On this page I have listed several exercises covering this, all using quarter notes. Due to the feature of triplets discussed in the previous lesson where each beat will start on a new hand, each alternating foot will fall with a different hand in these exercises. Make sure each note is falling exactly where it should and spend time fixing and timing problems.

I have avoided using eighth notes in these exercises for a reason, that being that they won't fall nicely under the hands. In a later lesson you will look at apply some swung style kicks under the hands but for now get comfortable with these patterns.
